One of my summer jobs while in school was working at at a pizza/sandwich shop. As a college student it was great – I got free food while working and I got to try different things.
One of the sandwiches we offered was a gyro. No, not an actual gyro, but a sub sandwich filled with the beef-lamb meat and Tzatziki sauce. Tzatziki sauce can be an appetizer with bread in itself, but I think it’s better to have it with a gyro.
Tzatziki- Summer Topping
With the hot weather we’re having, making some cool Tzatziki sauce can the perfect way to top your sandwiches and appetizers. I thought it would be fun today to share a recipe for those looking to try it at home the next time they grill something.
- 1 Small Container of Plain Yogurt
- 1 Clove Garlic (Minced)
- 2 T. Olive Oil
- 1 Cucumber (Seeded and Grated)
- 1 t. Lemon JuiceSalt and Pepper
- Mix together the ingredients
- Let sit in the refrigerator for 1 hour and serve when ready
